About 400 years ago, Maeda Toshinaga, Kaga Domain invited seven Imoji artisans. Takaoka-Imono (metal casting) emerged from a town called Kanaya machi located in Takaoka city, Toyama Prefecture.
Now, Takaoka is famous throughout Japan for its well-developed metal casting industry.
Shigeru works at a foundry run by his father, Kozaburo. They often fight because Kozaburo has a conservative mindset and respects tradition, while Shigeru wants to try new things. Their difference of opinions leads to clashing when deciding how to run the factory.
Emi is a 30-year-old designer from Tokyo aspiring to work for a design company in Takaoka. She has entered many design competitions, but with no luck. She’s beginning to feel disappointed with her lack of success and is unsure about where her fate lies as a designer.
Then, Shigeru and Emi meet by chance, and decide to work together to seek new design innovations.
